Chia-Hsuan Liao is a PhD student in Linguistics. She’s currently working with William and Phoebe on an fMRI study on argument structure and an MEG study on syntactic prediction. She’s especially interested in thematic role processing, tone sandhi, and second language acquisition.
Phoebe Gaston is a PhD student in Linguistics. She’s working with William and Chia-Hsuan on an fMRI study on argument structure and an MEG study on syntactic prediction. Phoebe is broadly interested in syntactic structure building.
Mina Hirzel is a PhD student in Linguistics. She is interested in developing neural measures of syntactic acquisition in kids and is working with Natalia on an EEG investigation of the time-frequency signatures (a la Ding et al. 2016 Nature Neuroscience) of basic syntactic structure building.
Craig Thorburn is a PhD student in Linguistics. Craig is interested in developing computational models of speech perception and its neural bases, and is co-advised with Naomi Feldman. ___________________________________________
Hanna Muller is a PhD student in Linguistics. She is interested in many areas of sentence processing with an emphasis on interpretative mechanisms, from incremental processing of negation to verb prediction, and works with a variety of methods.
Mike McCourt is a PhD student in Philosophy. As part of our ‘Submarine’ group with Alexander Williams and Jeff Green, he’s currently using EEG to investigate anaphora processing and to look for neural measures that might distinguish syntactic and non-syntactic anaphoric dependencies.
Nur Basak Karatas is a PhD student in Second Language Acquisition. Her research focuses on the acquisition and processing of grammatical case in second language learners. ____________________________________________________________
Aura Cruz Heredia is a Baggett Fellow in Linguistics. She is working on EEG and MEG studies of syntactic prediction and long-distance dependency processing.
